July 19, 2005 As you can imagine, becoming first time home buyers was a much different experience than we thought. We envisioned finding our dream home the first weekend, and of course followed up with quick financing. Thankfully, we had a Realtor who was a godsend walking us step by step through the process. Jim St. John patiently took us to view prospective homes within our price range along with emailing us updates of newly listed homes. Once we found "the one" it became slightly more complicated due to it being a foreclosure. Thank goodness for Jim again, who coached us on what it took to have the strongest offer and why it was different than buying a home from another person. Jim's advice came through and thanks to his expertise and his ongoing support through financing and escrow; we paid $187,000.00 for a four bedroom 3 bathhouse with a quarter acre lot! It needed a little work but we were happy to do it for the price. Less than a year later a similar house on our street with a smaller yard sold for $255,000.00 and a three bedroom rambler next to it is selling for $240,000.00. We knew we made a good investment decision, but this is truly amazing! We are still so thankful we had such an experienced and supportive Realtor guiding us through and helping to simplify what I once thought was a complicated process.
